To the disappointment ofmany, the Pope cancelled his papal audience with us, but to our great joy we were still allowed a break day, which was set for Wednesday. Some participants stayed in Assisi while others took a bus to Sienna, Florence or Rome. There was a small group of seekers that journeyed up the mountain beyond the tree line to have a transfiguration experience. What a spectacular view on the way up!God’s presence was manifested not in light but in a cloud of wetness.

The Oriens Region showed its rich diversity at our mass this morning as we sang in Japanese, Indonesian, Latin, and English. The first reading was in Malayalamand during the presentation of the gifts,a monk of the region gently played Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring“ on the guitar.

Today we spent most of the day in the Aula. Time is running short so everything has sped up in an effort to cover all the items on the agenda. Many of these are delicate issues involving particular houses and people. Guidelines were proposed for the use of the internetand the financial report of the order was presented. Lastly at the 11th hour of the day we returned to our commissions to discuss constitution 67. Supper was a welcome relief after such a heavy day. Our weary taste-buds are refreshed by one of the highlights here – frozen yogurt with YOUR CHOICE of topping.
