The liturgy this morning, planned by the French was prayed in French and Latin with the first reading done in German. There was a beautiful flute istrumental during the presentation of the gifts and an inspiring communion piece.
After
the celebration we headed to the Aula and welcomed the late arrivals. All those expected have now arrived. During the session in the morning the working paper for the participation of the delegates and the procedures for the running of the General Chapter were accepted. Then we had a very good presentation by Dom Elias on the working paper for the mandate and power of the commissions. We then went into the 14 commissions to discuss and vote on this matter. Dom Elias Dietz of Gethsemani and Mother Marion Rissetto of Crozet were elected to do the synthesis of the General Chapter after the chapter. Dom Stan Gumula of Mepkin, Dom Malachias Huijink of Echt and Mother Myriam Frontaine of Laval were elected to study the finances of the order.
Most of the afternoon was spent listening to summaries of the house reports of several regions. All were expressing their fragiliy and some of the creative ways they are dealing with it.
